How To Start Home School

CHEF members are current homeschoolers. Homeschooling is an educational choice in which the parent/guardian takes both the practical and legal responsibility for their child's education. A homeschooler in Arkansas will have submitted a Homeschool Intent Form.

Homeschooling has been legal in Arkansas since 1985.

Arkansas has two requirements to homeschool:

Fill out a Notice of Intent to Home School and submit it to your local school superintendent's office.

Fill out a Waiver (releasing the state from liability for your children's education) and submit it to your local school superintendent's office.

Your child will be tested with a standardized test in accordance with state law. You should stay familiar with current laws and information from your school district which address ages for testing and locations of testing sites.
